for interpreting and talking about data
An infographic is a tool to communicate a huge sum of information through visual
presentation. Infographics comprises of images, which makes you see the data at
once.
Infog.ram is composed of 6 layouts to begin with.
Insert the information on each pre-set box. You also have the option to add or
delete boxes among other features such as graphic options, photos, text boxes
and videos. Once finished with your own infographics, you can easily share it
through your social media accounts or embed the code on your website
You can start with either one of a number of templates or a blank canvass in Easel.ly. There are 10 modern graphic categories to use including transportation, animals, people and icons. Shapes, connectors and
arrows are also available. You can upload your own graphics, use functions like
clone, single-touch positioning and grid to make the layout perfect. Changing
the color of any item is also possible. Text fonts, styles, sizes and colors
are also customizable. Finished infographics can also be downloaded, shared or embedded.

Screencasts
Screencasts are an excellent way to explain parts of your website or your
curriculum to parents and students. You can then embed your narrated screencasts
to your website. I’m sure that this will become one of your more important
communication tools.
ScreenCastle
- a simple screencast creation tool
Screencast-O-Matic -
record up to 15 minutes in duration
Screenr
- this site is wonderful, you be recording in just seconds
Screencast.com - Screencast is great for students looking to learn from each other, record their thoughts and share on a classroom website (see the Edmodo tool above!) or just submit homework by showing how they did something online. Long story short, many teachers say their flipped classrooms use Screencast because it’s so simple. Sounds good to me.
Screencast-O-Matic is a web-based screencast creation tool similar to Screen Castle. Screencast-O-Matic allows you to specify how much of your screen that you want to record. Screencast-O-Matic gives you up to fifteen minutes of recording time per video. If you want to include a webcam view of yourself talking you can do that too. To do that enable your webcam and then when you record a small video of you will appear in the corner of your finished video.
The tool that I use most often of creating annotated screen capture images is Jing. Jing enables you to take a picture of part of your screen or all of your screen. Once you've captured the area you want in your picture, you can type on it, draw arrows on it, and highlight sections of text within it. To use Jing you must download and install the free software for your Mac or PC. Once it's installed, launch it and it runs in the background until you need it. You'll know that Jing is ready for you to use because you will notice an orange ball in one of the top corners of your screen. It takes up very little screen real estate and is ready to use whenever you need it. You can also use Jing to record a video of your screen. Simply select the area of your screen that you would like to show, click the record button and begin talking. Jing will capture everything you say and do for up to five minutes.
